To our elders, I give thanks.  This Jatoba tree in central Brazil is about 400 years old.  It’s medicinal gifts are vast and generous:  anti inflammatory, anti fungal, healer of coughs, bronchitis, pains, ulcers and infections…  the list goes on and on.  Your bark is uniquely resilient to all pests.  That is quite something in a tropical land filled with voracious insects.  You stand tall above the canopy, regal and wise.  We have come a good distance to collect your sap.  Grateful for every ounce, it is precious to those weakened by ill health.

You are a teaching tree.  A healer.  An elder.  It is a marvel to be in your presence.  What more could we learn if we would but listen?
